Use of force Baton Training
In compliance with Alberta Justice and Solicitor General Regulations, individuals seeking authorization to carry a baton must complete the full 40-hour approved training program and obtain additional qualification on their Security Services license. Approval from the current employer is also mandatory for utilizing a baton in specific job roles.

SECTION (I) – USE OF FORCE – Rules and Regulations
- Chapter (1) – Use of Force and Self-Defense
- Chapter (2) – Defensive Tactics Fundamentals
- Chapter (3) – Contact and Cover Positioning
- Chapter (4) – Escort Strategies and Techniques
- Chapter (5) – Control and Decentralization Techniques
SECTION (II) – Handcuffing Techniques
- Chapter (6) – Handcuffing Techniques
- Chapter (7) – Defensive Blocking Techniques
- Chapter (8) – Personal Defense Skills & Techniques
SECTION (III) – Impact Weapon/Collapsible Baton System
- Chapter (9) – Impact Weapon & Batons
- Chapter (10) – Baton Defensive Tactics Fundamentals
- Chapter (11) – Weapon Retention/Disarming
- Chapter (12) – Post Incident Documentation
Upon successful completion of the program, students should demonstrate proficiency in all physical training techniques and possess a comprehensive understanding of use of force principles, stress management, and the necessary mindset for effective work in protective services. The certificate awarded upon course completion is valid for Two years from the last day of the course.
Requirements:
Peace Officer Appointment, Military, or Security License qualification (e.g., Club/Casino/Bar) is required. Proof of qualification must be presented to the instructor at the beginning of class.
